Story of a Home-Based Bush Remedy Business: No handouts, just heart and determination!
In the red dust of the Pilbara, where the land tells stories older than time, a small home-based bush remedy business was born. It didn’t start with funding or fancy equipment—just knowledge passed down through generations and a deep respect for Country.
The founder; Cherylea Walker, guided by Pilbara heritage, began collecting native plants known for their healing properties. Each remedy was made by hand, using traditional methods taught by Elders and refined through experience. The goal wasn’t just to sell products, but to share a piece of culture and connection to the land.
There were no handouts, no shortcuts—just hard work, long days, and a belief that something meaningful could grow from the soil of home. Every jar, balm, and oil carried a story: of resilience, of family, and of the Pilbara spirit.
Word spread slowly, first among locals, then to travellers and corporate visitors who wanted to take home more than a souvenir—they wanted authenticity. The business became a bridge between tradition and modern wellness, proving that with heart, heritage, and hustle, you can build something powerful from the ground up.

We had a trial stall at the Broome markets. We sold $750 worth of products in the first 15 minutes.
We ended up selling out in just two hours and our customers even took our samplers! That's the moment we knew we were onto something great!
