Our Outback Pharmacy

MARDAWUDBU

The dry red sap from the Bunaangu tree is our bush medicine. This jami (bush medicine) is very powerful and highly sought after. It is mainly used as a nattonic by our people to help cleanse the internal organs and flush away the bad toxins. It can also be crushed and made into paste form and used as a natural antiseptic paste to treat open wounds and skin irritations.

MINYJAGARRA

The Minyjagarra grows abundantly in creeks and river beds. It has dense hairy leaves with a distinctive purple flower. The leaves are oily and has a strong minty aroma that resembles the popular Vicks Vapour rub. The Minyjagarra is used as a decongestant to help treat cold and flu symptoms.

BARDIRRI

The Bardirri Tree also known as Camel Bush (Pilbara) is a gnarled tree with a single shrub. It has a corky bark. The birra (bark) off the Bardirri tree is cut, stripped and boiled. The Bardirri is used as a wash to help treat and dry out all types of skin ailments.
